The longest and highest continuously accessible high alpine circular hiking path in the Alps is located in East Tyrol.
This mountain path leads predominantly through a national park area where you can explore beautiful scenic highlights in Austria’s sunniest region.
The total hiking route is approx. 360 km in length and has approx. 30,000 meters of ascent.
It is split into 9 sections with a total of 34 stages.
Along the way, there are no less than 45 mountain refuges where you can eat and stay overnight. Hiking from hut to hut, hikers remain in high alpine environments for the entire distance where the average altitude is 2,500 meters.
Naturally, it is possible to do one section or stage at a time. Many visitors come back year after year to continue their journeys from where they left off the previous year.
