AdventureAustria is based in Lienz, the capital town of East Tyrol. The Dolomite town of Lienz has two excellent small ski resorts (Zettersfeld and Hochstein) which are both located very close to the main town centre.
However those wanting to discover more skiing in the East Tyrol region should take a visit to the Grossglockner Kals Matrei resort located 25 minutes west of Lienz.
The Grossglockner Kals Matrei ski resort is East Tyrol’s biggest ski area with 110km of prepared pistes. Skiing for all levels is offered here and advanced skiers can look forward to steep slopes and off-piste skiing.
Views of no less than sixty 3,000m high peaks await you as well as impressive views of Austria’s highest mountain – the Grossglockner (3,798m).
Gourmet fans will also enjoy the impressive Adler Lounge mountain restaurant as well as the newly built 4 star Gradonna Mountain Resort Hotel in Kals. The ski resort can be accessed from the Matrei side or the Kals side where there are a good selection of hotels and accommodation.
