AdventureAustria is based in Lienz, the capital town of East Tyrol. The Dolomite town of Lienz has two excellent ski resorts (Zettersfeld and Hochstein) which are both located very close to the main town centre.
The St Jakob in Defereggental ski resort (located 40km west from our base) offers sunny wide open pistes for all levels. For younger guests there is a large fun park by the well-known Brunnalm which lends itself well for freestyle skiers and snowboarders and includes jumps, slides, waves and rails.
St Jakob is a high resort with excellent snow records. Crowds and queuing for lifts are extremely rare. In fact if you are lucky you might even see one of the many international ski teams who train here.
Asides from skiing there are many very pleasant mountain restaurants, some with large sun terraces – perfect for topping up your tan. There are also several lively bars and restaurants at the main ski lift offering that all-important apres ski with music.
The actual town of St Jakob is rather small and is located a few kilometres from the main ski lift meaning you have to drive there or take the free ski bus.
