Weather in Austria

Where AdventureAustria are based

Lienz is the sunniest town in Austria! Lienz is proudly titled “Sonnenstadt Lienz” officially being the sunniest town with the best weather in Austria! With over 2,000 sunshine hours per year (average of 6 hours a day – EVERYDAY), you are almost guaranteed to enjoy some sunshine on a visit to the region regardless of what time of the year it is. Lienz is set between the Alps of the north and the Dolomite mountains of the south which help to create a unique microclimate.

Bad weather from the north and west often fails to make it as far down south as Lienz and in turn the region enjoys warmer temperatures and clear air coming up from the Mediterranean south.
